| The road less travelled |
| North Queensland has been a top tourist destination for decades now. And yet, only a few select areas are well known.
Some of the most beautiful locations, some of the most remarkable history, some of the best experiences, are dotted throughout the immensely diverse landscapes and townships of TNQ.
Each year a shortlist of stunning TNQ locations are chosen to be featured in the TNQ Classic Calendar. Some of these are world-famous places, whilst others are little-known local secrets.
The TNQ Classic Calendar aims to reveal North Queensland in a way never before covered. From the Tropical Coast to the magical Tablelands and the rugged Outback, it helps you to discover the many facets of our region |

| Local government united support |
The local governments of TNQ have been a major element in the TNQ Classic Calendar’s growing success since 2004. Their feedback and financial contributions all assist in bringing you a very high quality product full of accurate fascinating facts and fantastic images of North Queensland’s shires and cities.
The 2010 TNQ Classic Calendar is proudly supported by: |
| Burdekin Shire Council |
| Carpentaria Shire Council |
| Flinders Shire Council |
| Hinchinbrook Shire Council |
| Mount Isa City Council |
| Tablelands Regional Council |
| Torres Shire Council |
| Townsville City Council & Townsville Enterprise |

| A number of prominent companies also help support the development of the TNQ Classic Calendar. These companies are proud advocates of the Tropical North Queensland region. |
| |
| Seven months' labour |
| Many months of research, photography and graphic design go into the features in the TNQ Classic Calendar.
Every single page is a collage of many stunning images which have either been taken by Lance Bignall our photographer, or collected from various sources to capture all the landmarks of a certain location.
Drawing the maps with all the local landmarks comes next, along with research into each area to write the accompanying fascinating facts about each location.
At the same time thousands of phone calls and emails travel back and forth between The Golden Quill office and the many event organisers of our region, as event details are collected and edited for the annual Events Guide.
As well as being printed in the guide, the dates of annual events are also inserted throughout the calendar on the months they occur. Events are colour-coded by region. |

| Distribution and sales |
| From exciting beginnings in September 2003, when 7000 copies of the pilot edition TNQ Classic Calendar sold out in the area around Cairns, Innisfail and the Tablelands, the publication has grown to become North Queensland’s most widely distributed calendar.
Now carried in several hundred outlets throughout North Queensland from Thursday Island to Rockhampton and west to Mt Isa, and even further throughout Queensland via select IGA stores, the TNQ Classic Calendar has become an invaluable annual guide to North Queensland, relied on by tens of thousands of locals and visitors alike!
It continues to win professional acclaim, having been nominated three times in the Queensland Multi Media Awards - a finalist each year entered. |
